Hi there! Welcome to my website. My name is Anko Lubach and i live in a small village near Leiden (The Netherlands). Long ago, I started photography using an analogue Minolta camera, and somewhere around 2006 i bought my first digital DSLR, a Nikon D70s. Today, i am lugging around several Nikon DSLR's, a couple of lenses, a tripod, monopod and some other paraphernalia, all safely tucked away in a Think Tank Airport Accelerator camera bag.

My experience is that certainly with nature or wildlife photography, other than just being outside with your camera, a lot depends on sheer luck, whether it is the weather, the light conditions and most of all being at the right place at the right moment. On the other hand, a good preparation gear-wise, meaning you already made sure you have the right lens attached to your camera and selected the proper settings for your subject, is something you can definitely prepare beforehand. Another example is that personally i like to do some (internet-)research before going on a photo trip. I scout for interesting locations and sometimes i go even as far as planning a beautiful sunset.

Does "planning a sunset" sounds a bit silly? Well, with some careful searching on Google Maps for a well chosen location to put down your tripod and a little help from the Photographers Ephemeris website (please click the link to my "Links and Tips" webpage below), you can actually plan ahead for a setting sun from the right direction and an interesting field of view.

N.b.: All the equipment described on this website was purchased using my own personal funds, without any sponsors, advertising, site membership fees or featured product fees. I do not receive any income from affiliate links or selling you any products. All the information I post on this site is to share with friends, colleagues, and fellow photographers.

Enjoy your visit!
